Married at First Sight, or MAFS for short is one of the more recent romance-based reality television shows alongside the likes of The Bachelor, Love Island, Temptation Island, and Naked Attraction. The show first ran in Denmark before being picked up for seasons in other countries. As the name of the show suggests, couples get married before meeting and then stay together for a while before ultimately deciding if they want to continue being married or to go their separate ways. Take a look at some of the couples from the show.
Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner
Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner were one of the three couples featured on the first season of Married at First Sight’s American version. Jamie had previously appeared on another reality-based dating show, The Bachelor, where she made it to the sixth week before being eliminated in 7th place. Doug and Jamie were also one of the only two couples who decided to stay together at the end of the season.
While many reality television couples don't last, it seems as though Jamie and Doug are the real deal. The couple renewed their vows and had a proper wedding a year after their first marriage on the show. The couple had their first child together in 2017 and had a second in 2020. The couple hasn’t been without their challenges as Jamie suffered two miscarriages while the couple was trying to have a baby.
Cortney Hendrix and Jason Carrion
Cortney Hendrix and Jason Carrion also appeared in the first season of Married at First Sight, and like Doug and Jamie, they decided to stay together after the show ended. Cortney worked as a makeup artist while Jason was in firefighter training during the show and had previously worked as an EMT. The couple was married for five years before calling it quits in 2019.
It turns out that several things fell apart during the relationship. Shortly after the filming for the show ended, Jason’s mother passed away from lung cancer and Cortney lost her job. Courtney and Jason have since gone on to new relationships. Jason married English actress Roxanne Pallett, while Cortney got married again and both have children with their new partners.
Monet Bell and Vaughn Copeland
Monet Bell and Vaughn Copeland were the third and final couple to feature in the first season of Married at First Sight. It appeared that the two had a good thing going, as the couple seemed to have immediate chemistry together. Despite the passionate start to their relationship, Monet and Vaugh both opted to not continue the relationship at the end of the show and ended up being the first Married at First Sight couple to get a divorce.
Since then, Vaughn has remarried and now has a son with his new partner. Monet returned to reality television and appeared on the first season of another dating show called Black Love. The show is produced and aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network and documents the progression of African-American couples in the search for love.
Davina Kullar and Sean Varricchio
Davina Kullar and Sean Varricchio were the first mixed-race couple to feature on Married at First Sight in the second season. Davina and Sean were the only couple from the season that split during the final decision. It wasn’t surprising as the two lacked chemistry and struggled to deal with each other while married on the show. One of the biggest issues for the two was the challenge of where to live, with Davina refusing to leave Manhattan, while Sean had a job in New Jersey.
Both of them have since re-partnered and Davina has gotten married and taken her husband's last name. Davina and her husband Donald have two children while Sean has also remarried and has a daughter with his new partner as well.
Jaclyn Methuen and Ryan Ranellone
Jaclyn Methuen and Ryan Ranellone were the youngest of the couples on the second season of Married at First Sight. Ryan worked as a real estate agent and Jaclyn worked in alcohol sales for a boutique vodka brand. The two also came from two different places as Jaclyn was from New Jersey while Ryan was from Long Island.
The couple decided to stay together on decision day despite Jaclyn admitting that she wasn’t attracted to Ryan at the start. Ryan would later admit that he stopped making an effort in their relationship towards the end of the show and shortly after decision day the couple got a divorce. Since the divorce, Jaclyn has re-partnered and has 2 children, who she met on Bumble, while Ryan is reportedly single.
Jessica Castro and Ryan De Nino
Jessica Castro and Ryan De Nino had one of the most bombastic relationships on Married at First Sight. The two decided to stay married at the end of the show, despite repeatedly fighting and bickering during their tenure on the show. Things only got worse after the show as Jessica filed a restraining order against Ryan in 2015.
According to the court documents, Ryan not only threatened Jessica but also her family by saying that he would make them “disappear”. After the show, Jessica also claimed that Ryan had cheated on her during the relationship. Thankfully, Jessica was able to move on and has already found a new boyfriend and they have a son together.
Vanessa Nelson and Tres Russell
Vanessa Nelson and Tres Russell were a couple from Married at First Sight season three, which was filming in Atlanta, Georgia for the first time. Vanessa and Tres were one of the youngest couples on the show, with Vanessa being 26 years old and Tres being 27 years old. The two stayed together at the end of the show despite having different personalities and priorities.
According to Vanessa, she felt that Tres was not ready to settle down and still prioritized going out and partying, while she was more interested in building their relationship. Within a few months of the end of the show, the pair got divorced. According to Tres, the couple tried in vain to try and repair their relationship before going their separate ways. Vanessa would return to Married at First Sight, albeit in the Second Chances spin-off in 2017. In her second appearance on the show, Vanessa’s relationship also ended despite getting engaged.
Ashley Doherty and David Norton
Ashley Doherty and David Norton appeared on the third season of Married at First Sight, and the two had issues from the get-go. Ashley felt that there was an issue of trust in the relationship after finding out that David had been speaking to other women via social media. David also had an issue with Ashley and felt as though she wasn’t invested in the relationship.
On the day of the decision, David said yes, but Ashley said no, resulting in the couple’s divorce. Following the show, Ashley discovered that David had pled guilty to disorderly conduct involving an ex-girlfriend, justifying her decision to call off the relationship. David returned for the Married at First Sight spin-off show called Second Chances. Despite dating numerous women during the show, David ultimately decided to stay single.
Samantha Role and Neil Bowlus
The final couple of Married at First Sight season three were Samantha Role and Neil Bowlus. Samantha was a 31-year-old bank manager while her prospective husband, Neil, worked as a compliance specialist. While Neil was originally smitten with Samantha, it took her longer to warm up to him. Unfortunately, when decision day arrived, Samantha chose to stay married while Neil chose to get a divorce.
Despite the divorce, Samantha and Neil have become friends since appearing together on the show. Since the show aired, Samantha married another man and the couple has two children together. Neil is yet to re-marry but did confirm that he had gotten into a new relationship since appearing on the show.
Lillian Vilchez and Tom Wilson
Lillian Vilchez and Tom Wilson were one of the three couples that appeared on the fourth season of Married at First Sight, which was based out of South Florida. The couple set multiple firsts for the show as Lillian was the youngest person to appear on the show at the age of 24 and the couple had the biggest age difference between them - 5 years. At the end of the show, both chose to stay married.
However, after appearing on a Married at First Sight reunion episode, the couple would get divorced. While Lillian is reportedly single, Tom has met a new partner and has since remarried. Tom’s new partner, Michelle, has two children from a previous relationship, making Tom their new step-father.
Sonia Granados and Nick Pendergrast
Sonia Granados and Nick Prendergrast appeared on the fourth season of Married at First Sight. While appearing on the show, Sonia worked as a Social worker while Nick worked managing a vacation rental property. During the show, the couple was seemingly changing from having a great relationship and enjoying each other's company to being miserable from one moment to the next.
The two decided to stay married on decision day but would get a divorce the following year. Both Nick and Sonia met new partners since appearing on the show and have both had twins. In 2019, Nick was involved in an accident at his job that left him paralyzed, but he has subsequently recovered and can walk again.
Heather Seidel and Derek Schwartz
Heather Seidel and Derek Schwarts made Married at First Sight history with their appearance in the fourth season. The couple dramatically left the show only ten days into the experiment and sought a divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. The biggest issue in their relationship was Derek’s smoking habit and Heather’s unwillingness to be in a relationship with someone that smoked.
Derek has since claimed that he felt Heather was dishonest about the relationship and used his smoking as an excuse to break it off early. In interviews after the show was wrapped up, Derek felt that Heather wasn’t attracted to him and did not want to be in a relationship with him and used his smoking as an excuse to make it seem like the divorce was his fault.
Cody Knapek and Danielle DeGroot
Danielle DeGroot and Cody Knapek were one of the three couples to appear on the fifth season of Married at First Sight in 2017. The season made history as it was the first time all three couples agreed to stay married after the show ended. Danielle was a 30-year-old dietician, while Cody worked as a personal trainer and owned his own gym.
A year after their appearance on the show, the couple issued a joint statement via People Magazine announcing that they were getting a divorce. Despite getting a divorce, the relationship between the pair, at least in public, has been cordial and neither has spoken ill of the other in the wake of the end of their relationship. Cody has since confirmed that he is in a new relationship, while Danielle is reportedly single and has been focusing on her career while still hoping to meet the right person to settle down with.
Nate Duhon and Sheila Downs
Another of the couples from Married at First Sight season five included school district director Sheila Downs and the manager of a car rental company Nate Duhon. The pair faced a major issue during their time on the show as Nate’s parents did not approve of what he was doing. Despite the issues the pair had, they both agreed to stay together at the end of the season.
Issues with their relationship persisted after the show had finished. During the filming, Sheila felt like there were trust issues and believed that Nate was unfaithful to her both during the show and after. Sheila posted to Twitter claiming that she had received a call saying that Nate had been cheating on her. Nate countered the accusation by saying that he had never been unfaithful to Sheila during their relationship and that he had filed the paperwork for the divorce before she sent out her tweet.
Anthony D’Amico and Ashley Petta
The third and final couple on the fifth season of Married at First Sight was Ashley Petta and Anthony D’Amico. Both Ashley and Anthony were over 30-years-old, and both had stable jobs coming into the show. Ashley managed a family-owned bar and grill while Anthony was a sales executive.
Like the other two couples, Anthony and Ashley agreed to continue the marriage after the show, but unlike the other couples, the two have managed to make it work outside of the show as well. Not only have Anthony and Ashley stayed together but the couple also has two children together now as well. Ashley and Anthony have two daughters, their oldest, was born in 2019 and their second was born in 2021, and the girls are named Mila Rose and Vaeda Marie.
Molly Duff and Jonathan Francetic
The sixth season of Married at First Sight saw the show feature couples from the city of Boston, Massachusetts. One of the couples chosen for the sixth season was 25-year-old insurance adjuster Molly Duff and 28-year-old Financial associate Jonathan Francetic. The two had several problems on the show, with fans feeling that Molly bullied Jonathan during the show. During and after the show, Molly was reportedly targeted by fans of the show who were upset by how Molly had treated Jonathan during their relationship. Finally, on the decision day, both Molly and Jonathan had decided to go their separate ways.
After the couple broke up, Jonathan began seeing Dr. Jessica Griffin, one of the relationship experts that had joined the show for the sixth season. Jonathan and Dr. Griffin announced their engagement in 2019, however, their wedding was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Initially, Molly admitted that she struggled with her anger at Jonathan and his new relationship, but has learned to move on with her life.
Jaclyn Schwartzberg and Ryan Buckley
Another couple that was matched by the relationship experts was Jaclyn Schwartzberg and Ryan Buckley. Jaclyn came to the show a year and a half after her previous boyfriend passed away. At the end of the show, Jaclyn and Ryan decided that they would stay together, but the relationship ultimately would not last.
After the show, the couple posted to social media saying that they had decided to split and that the decision was mutually agreed upon. The statement also saw the couples thanking fans of the show for supporting them throughout their relationship. Jaclyn would go public with her new relationship in 2018, not long after calling off her marriage to Ryan. Jaclyn married her new husband in 2020 and is now pregnant with the couple’s first child. Meanwhile, Ryan is reportedly single following his divorce from Jaclyn.
Jephte Pierre and Shawniece Jackson
The third couple that featured on season six of Married at First Sight was Shawniece Jackson and Jephte Pierre. Shawniece worked as a Cosmetologist while Jephte was a second-grade teacher. Since the show wrapped up, Jephte and Shawniece have revealed that they are still happily married.
Even more than that, the couple has also had a daughter together named Laura Denise Pierre. Their daughter was born in late 2018, roughly 9 months after the show aired in January 2018. Shawniece and Jephte are only the third couple in the show’s history to remain together after their time on the show was up, and had children together.
David Flaherty and Amber Martorana
To date, Married at First Sight’s seventh season couple David Flaherty and Amber Martorana are the oldest couple to feature on the show in its history. Coming into the show, David Flaherty was a 37-year-old High yield bond trader, and his wife, Amber Martorana was a 36-year-old Senior title analyst. Together the couple had a combined age of 73 years.
During the show, Dave discovered that Amber had dated one of Dave’s friends but the couple was able to make it through. The couple not only made it through to the end of the show but called it quits after the show finished. According to Amber, David was unsure of his feelings for Amber and she subsequently moved out of the home they had shared.
Mia Bally and Tristan Thompson
The seventh season of Married at First Sight saw the marriage of 29-year-old Mia Bally and 29-year-old Tristan Thompson. During the season it was revealed that Mia had an issue with an ex-boyfriend. Mia reportedly stalked her former partner and used his credit card. Despite the obvious warning signs, Tristan and Mia decided to stay together at the end of the season.
After the show ended, the relationship unraveled and ended in a messy divorce. After the relationship ended both Mia and Tristan traded barbs back and forth on social media. Both accused the other partner of being unfaithful during their relationship and Tristan posted to Twitter that his partner needed to be a “strong woman”, seemingly implying that Mia wasn’t strong. Tristan has gone on to marry his new partner and now has a son named Phoenix.
Danielle Bergman and Bobby Dodd
The third couple of season seven was Danielle Bergman and Bobby Dodd. The couple seemed to be instantly compatible and seemed to get better and better. Even when the couple disagreed, they were still able to work things through. It was unsurprising when both answered that they wanted to stay together on the final day of filming.
While other relationships featured on the show have fallen apart after the cameras stopped rolling and the relationship experts left, that wasn’t the case with Danielle and Bobby. The pair are still married and have had two children together since the show ended, including their daughter Olivia Nicole and their son Bobby Dodd IV.
Stephanie Sersen and AJ Vollmoeller
Stephanie Sersen and AJ Vollmoeller appeared in Married at First Sight’s eighth season. Stephanie, a 35-year-old Financial Consultant, and AJ, the 37-year-old CEO of a recruiting company, were the oldest couple in their season. The relationship looked like it was heading for trouble earlier as AJ struggled with anger issues, but they managed to work on their issues and ultimately stayed together after the show wrapped up.
The two have continued their on-camera relationship by appearing on the spin-off show called Couples Cam. The two appear to still be happy with their blind pairing, and have since moved from Philadelphia, where their season was filmed, to Key West in Florida.
Kate Sisk and Luke Cuccurullo
While the relationship experts usually find two people that are at least somewhat compatible, they didn’t find the mark when it came to Kate Sisk and Luke Cuccurullo. At the time of the show, Kate was a 28-year-old Hotel Marketing specialist and Luke was a 31-year-old Civil Engineer. Both acknowledged during the season that they were not attracted to one another, which made it impossible to build a lasting relationship.
Many fans saw Luke as the villain of the series, as fans disliked how poorly Luke treated Kate during the season and accused him of gaslighting her during their arguments. The couple would go their separate ways on decision day, with Kate saying that the only reason she didn’t leave early was that she was told she would be fined $100,000 if she left the show before the decision day. The show has denied the accusation that Kate was threatened if she left the show early.
Jasmine McGriff and Will Guess
Will Guess and Jasmine McGriff were another couple that appeared in season eight of Married at First Sight. Throughout the show, the two seemed to have issues communicating with each other about their issues. This was the case on decision day, as Jasmine wanted to continue the relationship while Will declined, which ended the relationship in a divorce.
After the show ended, Will posted on his Instagram stating that he was thankful for the experience even though the experiment didn’t work out. In the post, Will also thanked Jasmine and wished her and her family the best. In response, Jasmine claimed that the post was all a lie and that behind the scenes Will was a nightmare to deal with. Jasmine also went as far as accusing him of going on the show for the wrong reasons, claiming that he was only signed to the show to make money.
Kristine Killingsworth and Keith Dewar
For the first time in Married at First Sight’s history, the show featured four couples instead of the traditional three. Kristine Killingsworth was a 29-year-old real estate agent while Keith Dewar, who was also 29-years-old worked as a care technician specializing in dialysis procedures. While the pair got off to a shaky start, the two would continue to work on their marriage week by week.
On the day of the decision, both Kristine and Keith ultimately decided to stay together and continue working on their marriage. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Keith and Kristine confirmed that they had purchased a house together via an interview in People Magazine. According to Kristine, the two were renting and decided that it was time for them to own a place of their own.
Deonna McNeill and Gregory Okotie
The ninth season of Married at First Sight was the first to be filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina. Following on from the eighth season, the show once again featured four couples who hoped to find lasting love with a stranger. One of the couples on the show was 30-year-old Deonna McNeill and 32-year-old Gregory Okotie.
Not only did Deonna McNeill and Gregory Okotie stay together at the end of the season, but the two have even started a company together. The company, called Akspesiri, is named after Gregory’s middle name and features clothing featuring a range of positive affirmations. In 2021, the family also added a new member after Deonna gave birth to the couple's first child, a son named Declan.
Elizabeth Bice and Jamie Thompson
Another one of the couples from season nine was Elizabeth Bice and Jamie Thompson. The couple seemed to be heading for an early end during the season as they had trouble from the get-go on the show. During the honeymoon, the couple got into a fight regarding a meal they ate separately and their issues only seemed to worsen when they returned home. Despite the issues, Elizabeth and Jamies shocked Married at First Sight fans by agreeing to stay together at the end of the season.
Not only did the couple remain together at the end of the show, but remained married even after the cameras disappeared. Elizabeth and Jamie both returned for the reunion episode of the show and appeared to be in a much better place romantically than they had been during the season.
Keith Manley and Iris Caldwell
On the ninth season of Married at First Sight, the relationship experts paired 27-year-old Iris Caldwell with 27-year-old Keith Manley. The couple worked well together but Keith had reservations about their relationship. A lot of what seemed to worry Keith is that Iris had very little experience in relationships and the fact that she was still a virgin. At the end of the season, Iris wanted to continue the relationship while Keith declined, citing Iris’ immaturity as the main reason for wanting a divorce.
When the two appeared on the Married at First Sight reunion episode, Iris appeared to still be hopeful that the two could reunite in the future. Despite hedging for a short period, Keith ultimately stated that he did not see a future between him and Iris.
Matthew Gwynne and Amber Bowles
The final couple that featured in the ninth season was Middle school teacher Amber Bowles and former basketballer Matthew Gwynne. Gwynne played professional basketball in Mexico after playing basketball in College for Chattanooga and Cambell University. The couple has been called one of the worst couples to appear in the history of Married at First Sight, predominantly for how Matthew treated Amber during their run on the show.
It was therefore not surprising to see the two go their separate ways at the end of the season with both parties happy to call off the marriage by the time their season ended. At the end of the season, Amber had also accused Matthew of cheating on her, something that he ultimately did not deny. Since the show has ended, Matthew was arrested for Vandalism, after he broke into the home of another woman he had been dating, seemingly cementing his role as the ultimate MAFS villain.
Jessica Studer and Austin Hurd
Season ten of Married at First Sight became the first season to feature five couples, up from four in the previous seasons. One of the couples that appeared on the season were 31-year-olds Jessica Studer, who was a nurse, and Austin Hurd, who worked as a technician. The two had a few issues, especially regarding Austin’s career which required him to travel and be away from home a lot.
At the end of the show, the two decided to stay together and remained married after the show ended. In November 2021, Jessica gave birth to the couple’s first child, a boy named Westin Paul. The couple also has a dog together named Rex, which suffers from Addison’s disease a disease that affects the adrenal glands and the kidneys.
Brandon Reid and Taylor Dunklin
34-year-old Brandon Reid and 27-year-old Taylor Dunklin appeared on Married at First Sight in season ten and have one of the biggest age differences in the show's history. During their time on the show, the couple fought a lot. While most couples end up going through a divorce at the end of the show, or after the season ends, Brandon filed for the marriage to be annulled in 2020.
The annulment was filed in court only a day after the first episode aired on television. Despite their decision to go their separate ways, the two still managed to get arrested after getting into a fight at a bar that they both went to. Following the fight and the arrest, both parties also filed for restraining orders and now are legally required to not contact each other.
Derek Sherman and Katie Conrad
The tenth season of Married at First Sight saw 25-year-old Katie Conrad paired with 26-year-old Derek Sherman. While Katie worked as a mental health care professional, Derek was a cyber security engineer according to their respective biographies. The couple decided to stay together despite having issues with their relationship during the show. One of the biggest issues for the pair appeared to be one of Katie’s ex-boyfriends, who she admitted she still had feelings for during one of her sessions with the counselor.
The couple would get divorced a few months later and was already in the process of divorcing when they returned for the reunion episode. Derek would accuse Katie of cheating on him both on the show and afterward with her ex-boyfriend. Katie has denied the accusations and has since dated a new man who already proposed within a few months of dating.
Meka Jones and Michael Watson
Meka Jones and Michael Watson also appeared on the tenth season of Married at First Sight and would become one of the most interesting couples for all the wrong reasons. Throughout their season, Meka repeatedly accused Michael of lying about who he was and what he did for a living. The couple would have their marriage annulled instead of going the traditional divorce route.
After the show ended, Meka accused Michael of many terrible things, including pressuring her to have sex on the honeymoon, claiming that he would end the marriage if they didn’t have sex. Meka also accused Michael of lying about his job and treating her differently on camera than how he did off-camera. Michael would essentially admit to all her accusations via an Instagram post, but the damage to their relationship was well and truly done by that point.
Mindy Shiben and Zach Justice
It can be tough when one of the members of the relationship is not attracted to the other, and that is what happened between season ten couple Mindy Shiben and Zach Justice. During the show, Zach admitted to not being attracted to Mindy during their season and both opted to divorce instead of working on their relationship.
Towards the end of the season, Mindy had caught Zach flirting with one of her friends, which was the last straw in their already broken relationship. When the pair were called back for their reunion episode, Mindy claimed that she had no regrets about calling the marriage off. After the show wrapped up, Mindy would move to Mexico and has been working on a series of fitness goals while Zach tried to keep a low profile after his poor showing on Married at First Sight.
Bennett Kirschner and Amelia Fatsi
Bennet Kirschner and Amelia Fatsi were one of the couples that featured in Married at First Sight’s eleventh season. The couple would become popular for their quirky personalities and their relaxed approach to their relationship. The couple made it far, largely because of their open-minded approach to the process. Bennet even seemed to seal the commitment by tattooing “AF” onto his buttcheeks. When the show reached the decision day, the pair agreed to maintain their marriage after the season ended.
However, within a year of getting married, the couple announced that they had filed for divorce and were calling it quits. While fans have been searching for a reason the popular couple called it quits, neither has been particularly forthcoming with details.
Amani Aliyya and Woody Randall
Amani Aliyya and Woody Randall were another couple that appeared on Married at First Sight’s eleventh season and was also popular with fans. The two worked well together, even though their season was marred by the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to the pandemic, the eleventh season was filmed over four months instead of two. When the season ended, both Amani and Woody chose to continue their marriage.
Unlike Bennett and Amelia, Amani and Woody have continued their success after the show ended as well. Two years after they first met, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child via Instagram. Both have continued posting photos together on their respective social media, with Amani’s baby bump growing bigger with every post.
Christina Crochet and Henry Rodriguez
While fans of Married at First Sight season 11 loved the pairings of Bennett and Amelia and Amani and Woody, not all the pairings were popular. The pairing of Christina and Henry became a bitter mess by the end of the season. During the filming of the show, both Christina and Henry tossed barbs back and forth against each other. Christina accused Henry of being a closeted homosexual, while Henry said that Christina was homeless.
The couple decided to split at the end of the season, with neither one willing to try and keep the relationship alive. Since their season aired, Henry was rumored to be in a relationship with a different season eleven cast member, but eventually revealed that the rumors were not true.
Miles Williams and Karen Landry
It was revealed during the season that Amani, from Amani and Woody, applied for the show with his friend. His friend, Miles Williams also got on the show and was paired with Karen Landry. Before getting married, Karen had reservations about the relationship after seeing Miles’ social media page. After they met, Miles became worried about their relationship as Karen had issues opening up to her new husband.
Despite their issues, Miles and Karen chose to stay together after their season ended. However, a few months after the season ended eagle-eyed fans believed that the relationship was on the rocks. After playing a trip to Mexico together, Miles announced that they would be canceling the trip as he needed to focus on his mental health. Since then, neither party has publically confirmed anything about their relationship, resulting in MAFS fans trying to draw their own conclusions.
Brett Lindsey and Olivia Cornu
The final couple on Married at First Sight season eleven was 30-year-old Nurse Olivia Cornu and 35-year-old AWS cloud practitioner Brett Lindsey. The pair failed to establish any sort of connection over the show as the couple tried to make their relationship work. Brett didn’t help matter after he asked Olivia’s sister if she was in a relationship when Brett first met Olivia’s family and it barely got better from there.
Unsurprisingly the couple called it quits when they reached the decision day and they were both spiteful about the failed relationship. Even after both agreed to go their separate ways, the two continued to argue even when they were no longer a couple. After the show wrapped up, Olivia was rumored to be in a relationship with Married at First Sight season eleven co-star Henry Rodriguez after she appeared in a post of his on Instagram.
Erik Lake and Virginia Coombs
Season twelve of Married at First Sight saw 33-year-old Pilot Erik Lake matched with 26-year-old Account Coordinator Virginia Coombs. During the show, Virginia and Erik seemed to constantly bicker during their season, and many fans believed that the two would get divorced when they were given the choice on the fateful decision day. However, Erik and Virginia shocked fans by agreeing to continue their relationship after the show was over.
Despite their commitment to making things work, Virginia and Erik would eventually file for divorce. After going through with the divorce, Virginia posted a photo from the International Food and Wine Festival in Orlando, where she was with the other wives of Married at First Sight Season twelve. Virginia captioned the post by saying that the weekend was one of the best she had in over a year, implying that she was happy to finally be out of her relationship.
Briana Myles and Vincent Morales
Briana and Vincent are considered one of the best matches of all the seasons, given that since the beginning it was notorious the connection between the two of them, plus the fact that Briana’s patience and encouragement are considered one of the strongest reasons why they decided to stay together during Decision Day and manage to still be together.
Since they were introduced to the show, both of them showed an immense desire to get married as soon as possible, probably that was one of the reasons why they had so much potential as a couple. Since the show finished, Vincent has been dedicated to his role as a car salesman, while Briana is working as an assistant project manager. Both of them have been sharing their trips, and as per her Instagram, both of them seem very happy to spend some time with their friends, at the same time while they enjoy the perks of being newlyweds.
Haley Harrison and Jacob Harder
Even sometimes for the most avid fans, it is difficult to see what might have a happily ever after in the show, and a perfect example of it was Haley and Jacob, an account executive and a senior IT analyst who since the beginning were very difficult to read.
When Haley and Jacob met at the altar it was evident that she had a difficult time feeling a physical attraction toward her husband; additionally, it was also seen that for Jacob it was very hard to communicate his feelings to his wife and the both of them experienced great difficulties to connect. As a result, they decided to not continue with their marriage during Decision Day. Nowadays, they seem to get along with their fellow season’s brides and grooms as they have been seen sharing experiences and trips with them. It is unsure by now if any of them is dating someone else.
Clara Berghaus and Ryan Oubre
The 27 years old flight attendant Clara Berghaus, and the 29 years old project manager Ryan Oubre, were one of the couples that during season twelve decided to say yes and stay married during Decision Day; however, it was not all happiness for the lovely couple that months later opted for a divorce.
Despite the problems that they had connected at the beginning, Clara and Ryan decided to give it a try, and even during the reunion they announced that they wanted to renew their vows; however, it did not last that long before this couple decided to take different paths two months after the show ended. Implications about the relationship ending given cultural differences were brought to the publics’ attention by Ryan; however, it is uncertain by now to know who is the one telling the truth.
Chris Williams and Paige Banks
Chris and Paige are probably not just one of the most controversial couples of their season but the entire show, as since the beginning it was clear that he was not a big fan of her, but the cherry on the top was when he received a phone call from his ex to tell him that she was expecting a kid of his.
Chris was the evident bad guy during the relationship, as his behavior was abusive and it was not clear how the experts managed to not see all the potential red flags on him. On the other side, Paige was fighting tenaciously to keep their marriage afloat, and she forgave him multiple times, but in the end, she was the one that decided not to stay married during Decision Day. Nowadays; she seems very happy on her Instagram posts, and her fans are very happy to see her overcoming the painful marriage.
Myrla Feria and Gil Cuero
It was not a secret for anyone that since the beginning Myrla and Gil did not appear to be a good match as it was evident that they had different priorities in life. However, despite the differences, they decided to stay married on Decision Day.
During their honeymoon, it was evidenced that Gil was more invested in the relationship and he manifested that he would have wanted to feel more desired by Myrla. Also, it was seen that for Myrla, situations like eating out were important and for Gil, they just seemed like a facade of a happy couple. So; it was not surprising to know that two weeks after the show ended she decided to break up and asked Gil to move out of their place, evidently the decision was harder on him, but, despite all, they seem to be happy now enjoying the single life and focusing on their hobbies.
Rachel Gordillo and Jose San Miguel Jr.
Rachel and Jose were one of the two couples that during the thirteen seasons decided to stay together on Decision Day. Rachel is a special education evaluator who was 33 years old when she went to the show, and Jose was 35 years old and he was working as a mission flight specialist. Despite some of the red flags in this couple, they managed to overcome the problems and got happily married.
Jose was multiple times seen as the bad guy during the show as he was introduced as a perfectionist, and on multiple occasions, it was evidenced how he yelled and cursed at her, and how he was showing controlling tendencies as he was trying to “be a parent” for her as he tried to brush her teeth and feed her sometimes. Despite all the fights and the fact that Rachel called him by her ex’s name, the couple decided to give it a try, but apparently, it was not enough as they announced their divorce eight months after tying the knot.
Bao Huong Hoang and Johnny Lam
One of the premises of the show is to pair people that have no connection to each other to get successful matches to remain in the long run; however, this was not the case for the 35 years-old Bao and Johnny who met each other in college before the show; hence, the couple seemed to have an advantage to succeed since the beginning.
However; not everything was great for this couple as people were expecting, given that when they met in college Johnny ghosted Bao, so it was not a great sign for the newlyweds; however, despite the previous facts, Bao decided to continue with the marriage, but during the Decision Day she was the one that said no, given the fact that her husband made pretty bad comments about her during the honeymoon, including mentioning that he felt like kissing his sister when kissing Bao, and the obvious non-sexual connection that they permanently showed; in addition, Johnny commented that even the fact of seeing her happy was nasty for him.
Ryan Ignasiak and Brett Layton
Season thirteen was not particularly an easy season for all the couples, so Ryan and Brent were not the exceptions; although they looked like they have a great connection and their odds with the continuance of the relationship were high, the lack of communication did not work for the teacher & volleyball coach and Oil & gas liaison couple.
During the Decision Day, they both said no to continuing their marriage, as both agreed that they valued honesty the most in a relationship, and as Ryan was active on dating apps during the honeymoon, she felt that he was not completely honest and while he decided that it was better to sleep on different beds, it was notorious that they were not in the same page. However; the lack of success in their relationship did not stop them to continue being friends, and Brett seemed to have found a new boyfriend; she is currently having lots of fun with her friends and keeping busy with all her hobbies, while at the same time she describes herself as a “car and shower performer”.
Michaela Clark and Zack Freeman
Michaela and Zack appeared in season thirteen of the show which featured couples from Houston. Michaela was a realtor and Zack was working in the finance industry. During their wedding night they seem to have connected; but, during their honeymoon, Zack received a covid diagnosis which eventually changed the course of a potential match.
The fans were excited to see how after Zach recovered from covid, he and Michaela appeared to be thrilled to see each other; however, after Michaela’s dad passed away and Zack was living with anxiety and was not sure about how to talk to her about his feelings, all the marriage started to fall downhill and right before Decision Day to opted to sleep on different beds, and their final decision was getting divorced. Currently, none of them is married, but Michaela is enjoying the solo life and traveling around the world trying culinary delicacies in every country that she visits, and at the same time that she is all about the jet-set life.
